House Hunting

Yes, we are finally house hunting. We decided that we had better start looking while housing prices are still low (an possibly going lower?). We have gone a few times to look around, some with our realtor and some without. If you have ever been house hunting, you know how exciting and frustrating it can be. I have to say, we are much pickier this time around. We know more of what we want and especially what we don't want. There is at least one house that we managed to stay in for approximately 20 seconds before turning around and walking back out the door. And that may even be exaggerating. Oh, and finding a great house... except for that one thing (whatever it is, small kitchen, no backyard, etc -- stuff that isn't easy to fix so that the house is JUST PERFECT). Yes, we are picky, but you know, we just started. Our standards may drop drastically in a few months when we "just want a house of our own" already. I can tell you how excited we are to start anew, but at the same time, not looking forward to moving -- again -- or the mortgage payment. I am pretty sure that no one is selling around here unless the bank is forcing them too, I mean, who is that dumb.. uh hem, anyway, our choices may be limited until the prices start to climb back up again. We'll see... there is nothing like an emotional roller coaster... we seem to like those around here.

Raise of Hands

Who thinks that starting a new job, in a new state, with a new job role than any previous job, parenting two incredibly adorable but energetic children, and being newly pregnant is a good idea? Um, not sure I thought that one through, but I am leaning toward keeping my hand down on this one. :)

By the way, I love the job, the kids (my kids, I mean, not that I don't like the kids I work with, but I love my kids especially), and being pregnant. So, it isn't that I didn't choose to do this for a reason or anything. I am just saying.

Appreciation

You really don't appreciate preschool until it is gone... This has been a long 3 weeks. I am happy to say, however, that Little Man will be enrolled in a wonderful, loving, educational, sensory-filled preschool. Oh, and they do handwriting without tears -- woo hoo! He starts on Thursday. Perfect!

Pee Pee Help, Please

I am so tired of washing sheets. Little Man, who has been potty trained for quite some time now... maybe 2 years now, still isn't able to make it through the night and occasionally will pee during naps (for which he does not wear a diaper or pullup). So... What the heck do I do? Keep changing sheets until he outgrows this? We tried doing no diapers at night but he doesn't wake up and is truly baffled when he wakes up and his bed is wet. So, clearly he is not coherant enough to get out of bed and go potty by himself at night. I have changed the sheets on his bed 5 times in the last week... and I am usually lucky if I change them once every 5 weeks. ;) HELP!

2009 To Do List

In no particular order:

Get into a good routine about working/school/daycare
Change LM's preschool
Buy a house (with enough bedrooms to split up the boys)
Teach Squeaker to go to sleep painlessly
Go camping
Potty train Squeaker
Visit family in VA
Visit friends
Take a trip with Daddy and no kids
Be better about posting to this blog
Have a baby
Find a store that sells patience
Exercise more (which is not saying much... since it is now none)
Wake up friends on the east coast in the middle of the night so I can talk to them since there is never a good time, apparently
Go to Yosemite

Still here

Man, didn't realize it had been over a week since my last post. Where does the time go... um, really, where? Actually, between the Christmas festivities, and family time, we have been playing. And, that is pretty much it. My best friend and her family drove down for a spontaneous visit for a few days, which was wonderful and made us both wonder why the heck we don't get together more often. Sure, there was a 3500 mile barrier, and work, and life, but really. We need to do it more often... no excuses. I vow to make a better effort. The kids got along swimmingly, we had time to visit, and we even did a little bit of exploring. Now, I can't believe it is 2009 and we are ready to embark on another year that is sure to be filled with more adventures. We already have a few plans up our sleeves. ;) But, as we wind down on this wonderful New Year's Day, I am just filled with happiness and am glad for everything we have done and my cute little family (purposefully ignoring the screams coming from the bed of a 2 year old at the moment).
