Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

So, we found a house we liked. It is a beautifully redone single story home with lots more room that our previous abode. It is cute and in the school district we want to be in. It is not our 'dream house' or neighborhood, but we are nowhere close to feeling like we are 'settling'. It is a lovely home, so we put an offer on it. Apparently so did a gazillion other people. So, we wait, because it turns out that they are expecting to get more offers in over the weekend and then they will go through them all and decide who the lucky person is that will be able to steal their home away from them for way over asking price.

So, have you heard of this tactic: Find out what your house is worth, mark it 50k less, hold a caravan and open house and accept offers for 3 days... create a frenzy and end up selling the house for way over what it is even worth. I don't like it. It makes the home seem more irresistible than it actually is, and truthfully, I would love this home, but I won't sink into a deep depression without it. We put an offer on it that we think is fair and that was within our budget. We will see what others do, but really, we aren't willing to negotiate, it just isn't worth it. Unless we are negotiating down. ;) Anyhow, wish us luck. Slim chances, but you never know.

On the plus side, it is across the street from family friends. ;)

Quick Month?

I can't believe that March is just about over. Seems like a few weeks ago I was saying how long March is and isn't it great to get so many work days into the month. ;) Now, it is nearly gone and I am not exactly sure what we have done with it. All I can think about is what didn't get done:

I never washed my car,
We didn't find a house,
I didn't potty train Squeaker,
I didn't find my baby name books,
The sandbox still isn't painted,
and the list of trivial things goes on...

So, I will leave you with a picture of the boys after a wheelbarrow ride... Little Man is being a noodle as Daddy dumps him out.

Date night

I sometimes forget how it is to eat out without kids. Even if it is just daddy and I, we still habitually eat fast. But, last night, we went out to eat with some friends. We ordered appetizers, and 30 minutes later ordered our main course. I know, usually there is no time for appetizers, let alone waiting 30 minutes to order food. Crazy. On top of that, we ate at a place where you had to show ID to get in, and I am not sure they even had highchairs! And, if you are ever in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, and love Irish "Fayre", you should totally go to The Field. Delicious. And I mean DELICIOUS! Then, after dinner we splurged and went to dessert -- yes, at a different restaurant! Two Restaurants? We are CRAAA ZZZYYYY. Oh, and that dessert was so very yummy... whatever it cost, it was worth every bite. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time, I stayed up past my bedtime of 9pm and Daddy got some facetime with other adults (besides me and GaMommy). We definitely need to do it again.

Creative Non-dreams

Little Man went to bed about 30 minutes ago. And, in the last 30 minutes he managed to:
- talk an almost asleep Squeaker into climbing under his bed.
- discuss not sleeping with his brother and bounce on his bed repeatedly
- (once Squeaker was sequestered into Mommy and Daddy's room to sleep) had 'fake' bad dreams

Here is the dream. Sounds like a crazy dream, and would have been cool, except that there was no way that it could have occurred in the 5 minutes between us leaving the room and his screaming out for us.

LM: MOOOOOOMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYY.... DAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDYYYYYYYY!!!!!
Daddy: (his turn to go in) What? You should be sleeping.
LM: I am having a bad dream.
Daddy: Okay, well, think of something good and then try going to sleep.
LM: I dreamed that a giant crumbling ball, making grumbling noises was coming towards our family and leaving frogs behind it.

Apparently the dinner of hot dogs and ice cream do not mix. Serves us right. :)

Dinner Conversation from Last Night

LM: whine, whine, cry, whine, "don't like the food", whine, whine, whine
Me: "I might leave the table, my ears are hurting from all that whining"
LM: more whining and crying, but louder (you know, because he is 4)
GaMommy: "I have an idea, why don't we stop paying attention to him until he is done eating."
Me: "Great idea."
LM: whine, whine cry
Squeaker: "I have an idea, why don't we put tape over his mouth so we can't hear him"

That is what I wanted to say!!!! :)

Spring Cleaning

I have been in a cleaning and organizing mood. I chalk it up to the warm sunny weather. The only problem is not having any place to put things and our current accumulation of adorable little girly clothes! Also, we had pulled out winter stuff for our trip to VA that just got put away. Seriously, we have a lot of stuff, and especially toys. And, apparently we have nothing to play with because the boys fight over the same toy, no matter what toy, every time they play together. Oh my gosh, it is the last space shuttle in the house, must have it, give it to me now, I can't play with anything but THAT space shuttle. Oh, look, there are two... I'll take that bigger, faster one that you found mom, sure, sucks for you bro. Aughh... I know the fighting won't get better, but maybe they'll be able to resolve things better on their own without resorting to biting, hitting and all that nasty mean stuff.

Oh, so spring cleaning. The playroom is organized and cleaned up and even vacuumed, the rooms are picked up but not quite clean -- I need to vacuum and am really tired of changing sheets... still... and the clothes are washed and put away, ready for us to get them all dirty again. I love that feeling. Now it is time to have fun. Not sure what we will be doing, but something as a family. We need a break from "being busy" -- maybe we will go explore somewhere??? Go for a hike (if my hips can take it)??? Chill out and play in the yard??? Who knows what the day will hold!

P.S. Little Man is doing well after his surgery. He ate chips and guacamole the day after and had pancakes, eggs and sausage the following morning. I think his diet is back to normal. He is not moving his jaw a whole lot to talk, but I think he'll get over that in a day or so, when he forgets that he had the surgery at all. Right now we are cutting back on pain meds and he hasn't had codeine in 2 days... just regular pain meds. What a trooper!!!

Tired of sick

Squeaker woke up Sunday night, a few times, puking. :( So, I have decided that perhaps it is not in the cards for my boys to both attend school on the same days so both Mommy and Daddy can work. It just isn't working out so great these days. He feels much better now, most likely due to a 5 hour nap yesterday. The picture is probably blurry, but you'll get the idea:

So, now, we are off to Children's Hospital for Little Man's tonsil and adenoidectomy. It is never fun watching your kid go under anesthesia... and we truly hope this makes him feel a lot better. And, perhaps, no more snoring!?!?!?

As an aside, I am getting really excited for a couple of my friends in VA who are expecting. You are almost there!!!

Daylight savings time

I am always confused when the time changes. It doesn't matter if it is in the spring or fall, I am still confused. I heard they were going to do away with it all together... when will that be??? I need it soon. More importantly, so do the kids. This is the worst for them. So confusing. At least, in the spring, their early wake up time is considered "normal" for a few days until they adjust. What would be most helpful is if the boys didn't wake each other up every day. Then at least one is completely exhausted before 10am and the the cycle we get in is just not fun for anyone.

On a side note, you know how the flappy part of the shoe is called the tongue??? Little Man asks, "so, is the opening of the shoe called the mouth and the sides of the shoe called the lips?" These are valid questions... ones I am not sure of. Perhaps the mouth is an accurate description, but the lips... not sure on that one.

Also, if you live in any of the locales that are home to "La Peep", I recommend it. We went there for the first time this morning and it was delicious. I had stuffed french toast, GaMommy had a delicious looking crepe, and Daddy had an omelette. Squeaker ate his kids meal and then some, and LM, well, we were just glad to get out of there without losing it on him. I guess the impending nap is WAY overdue!

Television

I go through phases of watching television. I can go a while 'watching' nothing but Little Einsteins. I can also watch TV every night for hours (until I pass out at 9pm). I think I am in one of the TV watching phases. Unfortunately, I have also been eating a lot of goodies and been really tired. This is not a good combo. So, I decided to watch the biggest loser and try to motivate myself to exercise. I know I can't do a lot of exercising in my "current state", but I am going to get off my heiny... right after this show! :) So, what can't you stop watching?

Baby Belly

Here it is, as requested 'several' times, a picture of a big huge belly:

oh yes, and there are a few more months of growth left here. No worries, I won't fall over. :)
