Squeaker has taken up a couple really annoying responses to pretty much anything spoken directly too him. His first response is to say, "what?" before you even finish what you are saying. His second, if you ask a question, he responds with "I don't know." and usually will then proceed to give the answer to your question about 75% of the time. As cute as it was the first time, I am pretty sure we would be happy to welcome a new speech pattern any time now.
As a side note, I finally found our old gdiapers in our packed boxes. I tried them on Squeaker and slightly too small. So we got some in the next size up and they fit beautifully. I am so glad. My hope is that if I keep him in cloth all the time, maybe, just maybe, he'll potty train himself? He has until Easter, then we are going to give it another go. I was so hoping he would be potty trained before the baby's arrival.

Uh, still here, sorta
After a week of no posting... sorry about that, I thought I would give a quick update. Working is going well, house searching is fun, and most everybody around here is a bit under the weather. We have a couple of colds, some that developed into wheezing, and some that are just coughs, snot and a whole lot of snot. fun times. So, once I toss this tissue in my hand, and get some of this snot out, and perhaps some sleep, I'll be back. Happy superbowl weekend!

On Being Outnumbered
I am not sure we are ready to be outnumbered by our offspring. Well, I am pretty sure I am more ready that Daddy, but I am very glad there is 9 months... um, really, only 23 weeks left, boy oh boy... until baby #3 makes his/her appearance. Time is flying by and this means, I really have to start taking belly shots so this baby won't feel so slighted when looking through the baby book. Oh, so, speaking of baby books.... I sure do have a lot to do. I have to finish (uh, start) Squeaker's baby book. I have to acquire some baby items that might be of use (i.e., baby tub, bassinet, infant car seat)... oh dear. I also need to figure out how to stop expecting my spirited, energetic, and intelligent (I am not biased) children to be perfect so that I will stop yelling and getting frustrated. Adding one more to that mix, with that attitude, will be a losing battle. Oh, and most importantly, we all need some sleep. I am about ready to call the sleep lady over because I really don't like waking up before 6 am to reprimand my boys for climbing around under their beds. ;)
So, the questions going over and over in my head... what do you do when you have all three with you and only 2 hands to cross the street? Are they really reliable enough to hold hands with each other? What if you are on an excursion and you bring the 2 seat stroller and all 3 need to be strapped in for your sanity? What happens when you take a cross country flight with a 3 yo, 5 yo and a 6 mo old? Do they allow you to be drugged prior to the flight? I know it really won't be as difficult as I imagine, things will work out, Little Man will be older and in school, Squeaker will be less rambunctious (I hope), and baby #3 will be as docile as a sleeping lamb. A friend of mine has a 4 yo and 2 yo twins and she flew to New Zealand. If she can do it with that crowd, I am sure I will be fine. Daddy may take a separate flight, but we'll be fine. :)

Mixed bag
For once in a long time, we both had the day off. No work for the parents today, no school for the kids, woo hoo. So, we made grand plans to head to Coronado for some sightseeing and beach-playing. Unfortunately, Squeaker decided that his cold was more than a cold and started wheezing yesterday and has a fever that won't go away. So, I called the doctor this am... right when they opened... and the only appointment was at 11:30am. What the heck??? Smack dab in the middle of the day? Plans = Ruined. But, we needed to get out, so we altered our plan, dosed up Squeaker with Tylenol and headed to Mission Bay. It was perfect timing. As the drugs were wearing off (see pic at end), it was time for us to head home. Perfect!
So, I would have to say that this park is one of my favorites. It is a sandy park, no mulch. I really don't like mulch so much. Also, it had a little of everything. Climbing, slides, swings, tunnels, holes to pour sand through, etc. The boys had a great time and ran around like crazy. I can't wait to do it again, but the next time, we'll bring bikes/scooters and ride along the sidewalk that parallels the bay. That would have been a nice stroll.
Results from doctor reveal wheezing, fever, and cold symptoms. I should really go back to school for my medical degree, I'd breeze through the pediatric section, I think. ;) Let's get this cleared up ASAP... I really don't want to have to bring the nebulizer on our trip to VA next month.

Can't find what I'm looking for
I can't find Diaper Doublers anywhere! Where are they? Apparently in VA only. :( Humph. Don't kids out west pee a lot when sleeping? Mine does and we have tried alternatives... so... if you live in Southern CA, and you have seen these elusive diapering essentials, would you mind passing there location along? thanks!

House Hunting
Yes, we are finally house hunting. We decided that we had better start looking while housing prices are still low (an possibly going lower?). We have gone a few times to look around, some with our realtor and some without. If you have ever been house hunting, you know how exciting and frustrating it can be. I have to say, we are much pickier this time around. We know more of what we want and especially what we don't want. There is at least one house that we managed to stay in for approximately 20 seconds before turning around and walking back out the door. And that may even be exaggerating. Oh, and finding a great house... except for that one thing (whatever it is, small kitchen, no backyard, etc -- stuff that isn't easy to fix so that the house is JUST PERFECT). Yes, we are picky, but you know, we just started. Our standards may drop drastically in a few months when we "just want a house of our own" already. I can tell you how excited we are to start anew, but at the same time, not looking forward to moving -- again -- or the mortgage payment. I am pretty sure that no one is selling around here unless the bank is forcing them too, I mean, who is that dumb.. uh hem, anyway, our choices may be limited until the prices start to climb back up again. We'll see... there is nothing like an emotional roller coaster... we seem to like those around here.

Raise of Hands
Who thinks that starting a new job, in a new state, with a new job role than any previous job, parenting two incredibly adorable but energetic children, and being newly pregnant is a good idea? Um, not sure I thought that one through, but I am leaning toward keeping my hand down on this one. :)
By the way, I love the job, the kids (my kids, I mean, not that I don't like the kids I work with, but I love my kids especially), and being pregnant. So, it isn't that I didn't choose to do this for a reason or anything. I am just saying.

Are you a lurker
Apparently today is National De-Lurking Day. Wow, I barely made it... which doesn't give you much time to post a comment... so go, go go. Post already! Let me know you are here.

Appreciation
You really don't appreciate preschool until it is gone... This has been a long 3 weeks. I am happy to say, however, that Little Man will be enrolled in a wonderful, loving, educational, sensory-filled preschool. Oh, and they do handwriting without tears -- woo hoo! He starts on Thursday. Perfect!

Pee Pee Help, Please
I am so tired of washing sheets. Little Man, who has been potty trained for quite some time now... maybe 2 years now, still isn't able to make it through the night and occasionally will pee during naps (for which he does not wear a diaper or pullup). So... What the heck do I do? Keep changing sheets until he outgrows this? We tried doing no diapers at night but he doesn't wake up and is truly baffled when he wakes up and his bed is wet. So, clearly he is not coherant enough to get out of bed and go potty by himself at night. I have changed the sheets on his bed 5 times in the last week... and I am usually lucky if I change them once every 5 weeks. ;) HELP!

2009 To Do List
In no particular order:
Get into a good routine about working/school/daycare
Change LM's preschool
Buy a house (with enough bedrooms to split up the boys)
Teach Squeaker to go to sleep painlessly
Go camping
Potty train Squeaker
Visit family in VA
Visit friends
Take a trip with Daddy and no kids
Be better about posting to this blog
Have a baby
Find a store that sells patience
Exercise more (which is not saying much... since it is now none)
Wake up friends on the east coast in the middle of the night so I can talk to them since there is never a good time, apparently
Go to Yosemite

Still here
Man, didn't realize it had been over a week since my last post. Where does the time go... um, really, where? Actually, between the Christmas festivities, and family time, we have been playing. And, that is pretty much it. My best friend and her family drove down for a spontaneous visit for a few days, which was wonderful and made us both wonder why the heck we don't get together more often. Sure, there was a 3500 mile barrier, and work, and life, but really. We need to do it more often... no excuses. I vow to make a better effort. The kids got along swimmingly, we had time to visit, and we even did a little bit of exploring. Now, I can't believe it is 2009 and we are ready to embark on another year that is sure to be filled with more adventures. We already have a few plans up our sleeves. ;) But, as we wind down on this wonderful New Year's Day, I am just filled with happiness and am glad for everything we have done and my cute little family (purposefully ignoring the screams coming from the bed of a 2 year old at the moment).
I hope your New Year is filled with as much fun and laughter and some sunshine -- like we had today.
