Monday Musings

LM: Sometimes I run away from you. I don't know why I do it. Oh, yes I do. It is because I have lots of practice running. I like to run everywhere. I run on the sidewalk. I run in the stores. I run a lot.

Me: Yes, yes you do.
(he doesn't run away often, really... that is Squeaker's job these days... but apparently it was on his mind)

----

Squeaker wanted to add a musing as well:

Daddy came in to the bathroom and Squeaker was standing at the potty with his shirt pulled up and hips thrust forward toward the toilet.... "Pee pee," Squeaker chants. :) So, Daddy took his diaper off to see if he would actually go. He wanted to sit, and even helped to point certain things in a downward direction, just like he has seen his brother do. He sat for a while, and just as Daddy was going to take him off... he peed! How cute is that!!!! :)

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there! Have a great, relaxing day, and may all your young children sleep in, your older children behave and your adult children call you to wish you a great day! :)

Me, well, my children slept past 7am for the first time in a long time. Woo hoo... Happy Mother's Day to me! Thanks, Boys!

Starving Child

Not that you could tell from any pictures, but apparently I am starving my child. Poor Squeaker -- So sad, how DARE we make some delicious blueberry pancakes! How D A R E we!!! He has never been one to eat a big breakfast, and sometimes he would prefer not to eat at all. Lunchtime, when we are home, is okay, as long as it is early enough so he isn't tired. He is so tired when we come home from daycare, he barely eats dinner. So... lately, we have been soooooooo hungry. Squeaker wakes up at all hours (5:30 the other morning, aughhh) asking for a bottle or to "peeessss... eeeeet" (please eat). Poor thing! What can I do? He is exhausted, hungry and we are still trying to figure it out. We are having a hard time getting him to bed early enough. We come home from daycare around 5:45, eat dinner, get jammies on, bottle and bed. He is usually in bed by 7. We aim for 6:30. No time for bath, no time for playing. Just down to business. Then, like I said, there is not much interest in breakfast - unless he has hit his breaking point and is starving, then he will eat a handful of cereal and a piece of fruit - just enough to take the edge off. I am not sure how much he actually eats at daycare. They serve snacks and breakfast and lunch. So, how do I figure this one out??? We have tried frequent snacks, bigger meals, adding bottles, taking away bottles. But, so far, no luck. The only other thing we want to try, but have been unsuccessful with is more sleep. He definitely needs it, but can't seem to get it on his current schedule. So, this weekend, we are going to feed him protein shakes, and carbo load him every night before bed... kidding... for now...

Hi Ho, Hi Ho...

So, started back at work on Monday. Boo Woo Hoo. I am currently having mixed feelings about it. I am so glad I decided to get back into it... I love it. It is fun, engaging, and the children and their families are wonderful. BUT, I am sad to give up three days of parenting to someone else. Squeaker does love his class. Little Man will love his eventually. ;) It just makes me sad that I am no longer able to keep them home with me everyday, in our own sheltered little world.

On a side note. Keep those happy home-selling thoughts coming. I hear that people are out buying up homes these days... I am sure with some happy thoughts sent our way, some of those people will come our way. We are coming close to our 2 year anniversary (minus 6 mos when Squeaker came around)... 2 years I/we have kept this house clean... 2 years! I think we deserve some sort of medal... seriously.

Monday Musings

Random musings out of context:

LM: We used our brains to help us with our golfing.

LM: Tyrannosaurus Rex liked to eat pizza, I think.

And, a squishy one:

LM: I was whiney today (at daycare) because I missed you. After lunch and nap and soccer, you were there to get me. Now I am back where I belong.
Me: Where do you belong?
LM: With Mommy and Daddy and Little Bay-Bay (one of his many pet names for his brother)

Gorgeous

Yes, I am talking about you... but also, the weather. Today was as perfect of a day as we could have hoped for. I think it was more perfect because the weather people said that it was supposed to rain all morning and they were WRONG. It was just beautiful all day. We spent the morning outside watching the neighbor mow his lawn and eating popsicles, then in the backyard watering flowers and bikes with the squirt bottle. The boys got to eat lunch outside, too. After naptime, we headed to a local lake and took the boys on a bike ride. Little Man cruised along on his two wheeler (with training wheels) and Squeaker was (mostly pushed) on the trike. It was in the mid 70s and breezy - very nice and sunny. It was perfect. After bikes, Daddy had brought along the remote control race cars, so we drove them around the empty parking lot for a while before heading off to dinner. We decided to go a restaurant at the last minute, and sat outside to enjoy the weather a bit longer. The boys ate more than I have seen them eat in on sitting... ever. Squeaker ate his entire kid portion of mac and cheese and applesauce before Little Man had finished his applesauce. Apparently we starve our children. They both finished their dinners, at bread and french fries, then had dessert. Unbelievable! I hope they sleep for a long long long time!!!!!

By the way, the one thing that is not so perfect... teething. Squeaker must have asked for "Eyesh" (ice) like 5 billion times during our meal. I am sure it felt great on his molars coming through.

Now, if you wouldn't mind... cross your fingers that we are "mishap" free at daycare today. I am not going to elaborate except to say, I am tired of washing clothes and cleaning rugs (yes, it has carried over to home). ;)

Reality Check

Little Man informed me yesterday that I sure did have a lot of grey hair on my head now. Oh my, yes, my astute three year old, I sure do, but you are going to have get used to it.
